A new educational initiative called the «Treasure» project has been launched in Ukraine, aimed at engaging children in the study of Ukrainian history while viewing it as an integral part of their personal identity, an emotional space of images and discoveries.
The mission of the project is to transform perceptions of school history and reconnect children with their cultural heritage.
The project targets teachers, students, parents, and anyone who believes that education is not just about knowledge, but also about deep experiences.
Currently, the first animated lesson of the «Treasure» project is available, focusing on the early Slavs: their lifestyle, economy, and worldview.
The video is structured as a dynamic lesson, visually rich and methodologically accurate, with a practical task that includes an art therapy workshop on spinning.
The lesson materials have been created with the participation of historians, practicing teachers, methodologists, artists, costume designers, and animators.
The lesson is tailored to meet the requirements of the New Ukrainian School and is available for free on the project's website https://skarb.education/.
According to the authors, the lesson offers an exciting alternative to traditional school textbooks.
«We developed these materials not just as an interesting alternative to textbooks, but as a complete educational tool that meets all the requirements of basic secondary education. The video is only part of it. It includes clear methodological recommendations for teachers: what types of activities to use, what learning outcomes should be achieved. We aligned each element of the lesson with model educational programs, to ensure that this content is not only emotionally impactful but also pedagogically precise,» said project methodologist Antonina Makarevich.
Currently, the project participants plan to develop a series of comprehensive history lessons for grades 7-9, adapted to various learning formats – offline, online, and in shelters.
