Kyiv offers a unique opportunity to experience Japanese culture and traditional arts. The annual Japanese culture festival "Japanese Autumn - 2025" is taking place until September 7 at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
This event is organized by the Ukrainian-Japanese Center of KPI.
The festival program includes workshops, lectures from leading experts, Japanese language classes for all ages, demonstrations of tea ceremonies, Japanese dance and karate, as well as concerts featuring traditional Japanese instruments.
At the KPI library, visitors can view several thematic exhibitions including ikebana, embroidered temari balls, oshibana compositions, kimonos, and Japanese household ceramics, along with sumi-e.
On the Knowledge Square, there is a book fair featuring the "Safran" publishing house, which specializes in Eastern literature, along with incense, oshibana and sashiko accessories, games, and more. A food court with Japanese cuisine is also available.
As part of the festival, the State Polytechnic Museum has launched the art project "Paths. Peoples. Artists," focusing on theater and cinema as paths in a philosophical interpretation.
This exhibition discusses the Japanese Noh theater, Italian Commedia dell'arte, and the Ukrainian Vertep, all of which use masks. Themed discussions will take place on Sunday.
Admission to all events is free.
During the "Japanese Autumn" festival, funds are being raised for a vehicle for the unit of a KPI graduate.
