Vitaliy Klychko: Together with the heads of the capital's districts, we inspected the shelters in the Solomianskyi district that are in poor condition and require improvements for accommodating people during air alerts.

Kyiv is continuously working to enhance the technical conditions of existing protective structures and is expanding the network of shelters through new facilities, especially in residential areas and those far from metro stations.

Currently, there are over 4,350 shelters in the capital, varying by type, ownership, and technical specifications. Among them, 696 are state-owned, 2,576 are communal, and 1,084 are private.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, nearly 2,500 shelters have been repaired, with the city allocating almost UAH 3.4 billion for this purpose. Funds are allocated to the district administrations, which are responsible for organizing and overseeing repairs.

This year, Kyiv has allocated over UAH 4 billion for the construction of new shelters and the capital repairs of existing simple shelters and protective structures. However, by September, only UAH 819 million of the allocated funds have been utilized by the districts, which is about 20%. I have urged district heads to take their responsibilities seriously, particularly regarding the arrangement of shelters. We will conduct similar inspections in other districts.

The pace of utilizing allocated funds for shelter arrangements in the Solomianskyi, Desnyanskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts has been unsatisfactory.
