The scheduled peace talks in London, led by David Lammy, will not take place.
This was reported by "European Truth," citing confirmation from the UK Foreign Office, as noted by The Guardian.
The statement from the UK Foreign Office indicates that "today's meeting of foreign ministers regarding peace negotiations in Ukraine is postponed. Official-level talks will continue but will be closed to the media."
The meeting was supposed to involve the foreign ministers of the USA, UK, France, Germany, and Ukraine.
Recently, it was revealed that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will not attend; instead, special envoy Keith Kellogg will come.
Moreover, media reports suggested that the foreign ministers of France and Germany might also cancel their trips to London.
Meanwhile, Sky News reported that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha is expected to be in London for a bilateral meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.
The downgrading of diplomatic negotiations occurs amidst increased pressure from US President Donald Trump on both Kyiv and Moscow to achieve a ceasefire.
The US's "peace proposal," which was to be discussed in London, includes recognizing Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea — an issue that was rejected by Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday.
Last week, the Trump administration presented Ukraine with a one-page document in Paris, described as the "final proposal" for a peace settlement — the main points of this proposal are outlined in this news article.
