On the night of Monday, October 20, Russian forces struck again at key infrastructure in Ukraine, specifically targeting railway and port facilities. This was reported by Oleksii Kuleba, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine, on his Facebook page.
He noted that a traction substation of Ukrzaliznytsia was hit in the Chernihiv region.
Restoration work began overnight, but the enemy directed drones to the site of the recovery efforts. Thanks to monitoring systems, workers were evacuated in time, and there were no casualties. Train operations continue, with reserve locomotives in service.
Kuleba also stated that Russian forces attacked port infrastructure, damaging several buildings. Fires were quickly contained. Port workers remained in shelters, so there were no injuries.
Several ports are temporarily not accepting trains, and services will resume as readiness permits.
“Russia is deliberately targeting our transport arteries that connect the country and support the economy. However, the system continues to function, and we are not stopping recovery efforts,” emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.
