The Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully neutralized 320 out of 416 aerial threats launched by Russia since the evening of October 2, during the night of October 3. This included 303 drones of various models, 12 Iskander-K cruise missiles, and five Kh-59/69 guided missiles. This information was shared by the Command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on their Facebook page.
The nighttime attack, which began at 8 PM on October 2, involved a combined strike on Ukraine using strike drones and missiles from air and ground bases, totaling 416 aerial threats.
Russia launched:
- 381 strike drones of the Shahed, Gerbera types (other types of drones) from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia;
- seven ballistic missiles Iskander-M/KN-23;
- 21 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
- seven guided aviation missiles Kh-59/69.
The Air Forces noted that the main targets were critical infrastructure (energy sector) in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions.
As a result of the nighttime attack, the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Kyiv regions were also affected.
The air attacks were repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, drones, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As of 10 AM, preliminary data indicated that air defense had intercepted or neutralized 320 aerial targets:
- 303 enemy drones of the Shahed, Gerbera types (other types of drones);
- 12 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
- five guided aviation missiles Kh-59/69.
It was recorded that 18 missiles and 78 strike drones hit 15 locations, as well as debris from intercepted aerial objects fell in six locations.
