Ukraine has successfully completed another stage of prisoner exchanges, made possible by agreements reached in Istanbul. Today, the Coordination Headquarters responsible for handling prisoners of war has returned a group of defenders from Russian captivity, including those who are wounded and young fighters under 25.
Among those returned were servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including representatives from the Navy, Ground Forces, Territorial Defense, Air Assault Forces, Special Operations Forces, as well as the National Guard and the State Border Guard Service.
The youngest among them is only 20 years old, while the oldest is 59. Officers were also among the released.
Today's exchange includes defenders of Mariupol, who have been in captivity since 2022.
The majority of those released had been held for over three years.
Returning home are Ukrainians who defended their country in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Kherson regions.
Today, it was also possible to free wrongfully convicted defenders and civilians.
The released individuals will undergo medical examinations, receive assistance for physical and psychological rehabilitation, and all due compensation for their time in captivity.
The exchange process according to the "Istanbul agreements" continues. The exact number of released persons will be announced after all stages of the exchange are completed.
Today's exchange took place with the participation of the head of the Coordination Headquarters, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov.
The Coordination Headquarters continues working to bring everyone back!
Glory to Ukraine!
