Since the onset of the large-scale military invasion by the Russian Federation into Ukraine, a total of 586,456 explosive devices and 2,966 kg of explosives have been neutralized, including 4,206 aerial bombs, as reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Currently, the agency states that an area exceeding 181,408 hectares has been surveyed.
Most often, the pyrotechnic units operated in the following regions: Kharkiv – 44,859, Kherson – 22,437, Donetsk – 17,370, Kyiv – 13,742, Mykolaiv – 11,223, Chernihiv – 7,622, Sumy – 6,027.
In the past day, the pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service were called out 183 times, discovering, recovering, and neutralizing 333 explosive devices, surveying an area of 116.6 hectares.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that compared to last year, the area of land classified as safe due to demining work has increased by nearly 50%.
In May, Ukrainian sappers cleared 7,847 hectares of territories liberated from Russian troops.
Of this, 7,660.21 hectares were agricultural lands, 21.27 km of roads, 9.44 km of power lines, 40.24 km of railways, and 5.94 km of pipelines.
0.88 hectares of residential areas were also cleared of explosive devices.
Throughout 2024, over 35,000 square kilometers were cleared in Ukraine, allowing for safe economic activities.
This year, Ukraine will receive 26 GCS mine-clearing machines as part of a project funded by international partners, including the governments of Germany, Switzerland, Canada, the USA, the UK, Lithuania, and the United24 platform.
