Ukraine has successfully repatriated six children from regions temporarily occupied by Russia. Among them are a brother and sister from a family that had been trying to leave, as well as a girl who was threatened with removal from her mother by Russian forces.

This information was reported by the initiative Bring Kids Back UA.

Human rights activists shared the stories of several children, including Maria and her mother, who faced constant pressure from the occupying authorities following the death of her father.

“The family was forced to obtain Russian documents, as without them they could not address even basic household issues. The mother was also threatened with having Maria taken away if the girl did not attend a Russian school,” the statement reads.

Ultimately, the situation became so dire that the family had to seek assistance for evacuation.

Additionally, the brother and sister – Pavel and Anna – were rescued. The younger child had health issues but lacked access to necessary medical care. The family had repeatedly tried to escape the occupation independently, but it was nearly impossible without Russian documents.

“Now, all the children and their families are safe in a territory controlled by Ukraine. They are receiving support for rehabilitation and adapting to their new lives,” the human rights advocates concluded.
