Microsoft has officially unveiled a new feature called Mixed Reality Link. This system transforms Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets into monitors for Windows 11. Previously, this feature was only available to beta testers, but it is now gradually rolling out to all users.
Mixed Reality Link creates a virtual workspace where users can see multiple high-quality displays that mimic monitors. To use this feature, you need to install the Mixed Reality Link client on a Windows 11 computer and connect your Meta Quest headset.
The service also supports Microsoft’s cloud solutions, such as Windows 365 Cloud PC, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Dev Box. This allows users to access a virtual desktop even without a powerful local computer, shifting the computations to the cloud.
The functionality is reminiscent of Apple Vision Pro capabilities, but at a significantly lower cost. The base model Meta Quest 3S is priced around $300, while Vision Pro starts at $3,500.
Meta is actively investing in the AR/VR sector. Recently, the company introduced new smart glasses with an integrated display, Ray-Ban Display, as well as the new generation of Ray-Ban Meta.
