OpenAI has unveiled a new feature of ChatGPT called Company knowledge, designed to facilitate quick access to information within the workspace without the hassle of switching between applications. This update is available for Business, Enterprise, and Education users and operates on the GPT‑5 framework, integrating with Slack, SharePoint, Google Drive, and GitHub.

The primary aim of this feature is to transform ChatGPT into a conversational search engine tailored for businesses. Now, the chatbot can sift through all accessible sources and provide accurate answers, including Slack messages, emails, Google Docs call notes, and support inquiries from Intercom. Each answer comes with clear citations for verifying the information.

Additionally, the feature is equipped to handle ambiguous inquiries. For instance, when asked, "What progress have we made regarding the company goals for next year?" ChatGPT initiates multiple searches across various sources to resolve discrepancies. The tool employs date filters and engages in "thinking while searching," enabling it to locate information contextually.

This functionality needs to be manually activated during new conversations. While it is enabled, ChatGPT cannot search the internet or generate charts and images. OpenAI has indicated that future updates will incorporate Company knowledge into other ChatGPT capabilities, further streamlining workflows.

It’s also worth noting that OpenAI recently introduced ChatGPT Atlas, a browser with integrated AI and agent mode, which will soon receive additional features.
