The VR KOLO project, unveiled at the "Media Center Ukraine", marks the launch of the first network of virtual reality museums in Ukraine, bringing together five cultural institutions from various regions. Visitors can now instantaneously travel between Chernihiv, Khortytsia, Okhtyrka, Pryluky, and Dubno simply by wearing a VR headset.

According to the press release, VR KOLO is an innovative framework that connects culture, education, and technology. The project is being implemented with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Fund in partnership with Forward Inc. and the "Museum Development Fund" NGO.

Given the ongoing war, which has resulted in the loss of many cultural landmarks, VR KOLO plays a crucial role in preserving and restoring Ukraine's cultural identity through the digitization of lost artifacts.

"VR KOLO is a means to safeguard and revive our heritage, transforming museums into active spaces rather than just places for observation. We are establishing a sustainable infrastructure that will operate daily and be refreshed with new exhibitions. This signifies a new museum culture where heritage becomes vibrant and accessible to all," emphasized Anton Shynkaruk, head of the "Center for Digital History" NGO.

Currently, five institutions are part of VR KOLO: the National Architectural and Historical Reserve "Ancient Chernihiv", the National Reserve "Khortytsia", the Okhtyrka Local History Museum, the Pryluky Local History Museum, and the State Historical and Cultural Reserve of Dubno.

Over 120 digital exhibits have already been presented in the project, each with its own unique story, ranging from ancient artifacts to objects damaged during combat. The uniqueness of the VR tour lies in the ability to closely examine even the most delicate artifacts, allowing them to be magnified and handled.

The VR KOLO team has also announced plans for network expansion and welcomes collaboration with museums, community organizations, educational institutions, and donors. Participants can request technical audits, training, and support for launching VR zones in their cities.
