The State Emergency Service of Ukraine and GSC Game World have launched a new initiative aimed at raising awareness about mine safety rules, utilizing the universe of the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

In a video based on the game, the protagonist Skif presents the fundamental rules:

  • Avoid suspicious objects
  • Do not touch them
  • Retrace your steps
  • Call 101

According to the State Emergency Service, around 23% of Ukraine's territory remains hazardous due to mines and unexploded ordnance, with the demining process expected to take decades. Despite awareness of risks, over half of teenagers behave recklessly, particularly boys aged 14-17, who tend to underestimate the danger.

To convey this crucial message in an accessible way, the State Emergency Service collaborated with GSC Game World to integrate the theme of mine threats into the familiar virtual world of gamers. Developers state that the project aims to save lives by replacing dry lectures with an emotional experience.
