22-year-old Ukrainian biathlete Vitalii Mandzyn is in the running for the title of "rookie of the season".

This was reported by IBU.

Competing for the award are Norwegian athletes Martin Uldal (23 years old) and Isak Frey (21 years old), as well as German biathlete Danilo Ritmüller (25 years old).

It’s worth noting that Mandzyn finished the 2024/25 season in 31st place in the overall World Cup standings.

His best result in individual races was 4th place in the short individual race at the first stage of the World Cup in Kontiolahti, Finland.

During the World Cup stage in Nové Město, Czech Republic, Mandzyn secured a bronze medal as part of the relay team.

At the end of the international season, which was Mandzyn’s first complete season at the adult level, he lost the battle for the title of best young biathlete to Campbell Wright from the USA.
