A new municipal non-profit enterprise called «Military Sports Rehabilitation» has been established in the capital, aimed at the physical rehabilitation of military personnel, veterans, and their families. This decision was made during a plenary session of the Kyiv City Council today, December 12.

According to Kyiv City Council member Vadym Vasyliuk, this initiative will address the urgent need for creating conditions for the psychological adaptation of Ukraine’s defenders through sports.

«This initiative is extremely important as it will support our defenders and help them find new paths for recovery post-conflict, integrate into society, and serve as role models for youth. We want to show that caring for military personnel and veterans is our priority. The new enterprise will carry out a wide range of activities including organizing sports events, rehabilitation from injuries and illnesses through physical exercises, patriotic education for youth involving veterans, and promoting a healthy lifestyle among the population», – emphasized Vadym Vasyliuk.

He noted that in 2023, with the support of the Department of Youth and Sports of the Kyiv City State Administration, various sports events for veterans have already taken place, including the comprehensive event «Kyiv Unbreakable» and «Military Recovery Sports», but more is needed.

«Establishing «Military Sports Rehabilitation» is not just a new project developed in collaboration with the Department of Youth and Sports, but an opportunity to expand the range of services and provide our defenders with systematic support. Involving veterans in sports activities will also serve as a crucial tool for overcoming stress, recovering from combat experiences, and promoting sports among residents», – he added.
