The 2025-2026 winter competitive season has begun with remarkable achievements for Ukrainian paralympians, who secured medals at the Winter World Cups in skiing and biathlon in Canada.

At the FIS World Cup for para skiing, featuring over 120 athletes from 19 countries, the Ukrainian team of 21 athletes claimed 6 medals:

  • «Gold»: Serhiy Romaniuk (standing class, freestyle sprint).
  • «Bronze»: Lyudmyla Lyashenko (standing class, interval start 10 km classic and mass start 10 km classic); Oleksandra Kononova (standing class, freestyle sprint); Serafim Dragun (standing class, freestyle sprint); Dmytro Suyarko (visually impaired class, guide Oleksandr Nikonovych, mass start 10 km classic).

At the IBU World Cup for para biathlon, with over 70 athletes with disabilities competing, the Ukrainian team secured 15 medals:

  • «Gold»: Oleksandr Kazik (visually impaired class, guide Serhiy Kucheryavyi, pursuit sprint); Anatoliy Kovalevskyi (visually impaired class, guide Oleksandr Mukshin, sprint).
  • «Silver»: Oleksandr Kazik (visually impaired class, guide Serhiy Kucheryavyi, individual race 12.5 km); Serhiy Romaniuk (standing class, pursuit sprint and sprint); Lyudmyla Lyashenko (standing class, pursuit sprint and sprint); Yaroslav Reshetynskyi (visually impaired class, guide Dmytro Dragun, sprint); Oleksandra Kononova (standing class, individual race 12.5 km); Hryhoriy Vovchynskyi (standing class, individual race 12.5 km).
  • «Bronze»: Oleksandra Kononova (standing class, pursuit sprint); Taras Rady (sitting class, pursuit sprint, individual race 12.5 km, sprint); Bohdana Konashuk (standing class, individual race 12.5 km).

These World Cups marked a significant milestone in the competitive cycle for Ukrainian para skiers and biathletes en route to the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games.
