Alexandra Oliynikova (109) emerged as the champion of the WTA 125 tournament held in Colina, Chile. In the decisive match, the Ukrainian player overcame French competitor Leolia Zhanjan (106).
The match lasted 1 hour and 52 minutes and concluded with a score of 7:5, 6:1.
The start of the match was challenging for Oliynikova, who struggled to adapt to the strong winds and Zhanjan's playing style. She failed to secure her first three serves.
However, from a 1:4 deficit, the situation changed. Oliynikova began to play more confidently, finding opportunities to attack during rallies from the baseline. Zhanjan could not respond effectively and displayed more negative emotions than competitive spirit throughout the match.
Out of the next 14 games, Oliynikova claimed 12, achieving a solid victory – 7:5, 6:1.
During the match, Oliynikova served 1 ace, made no double faults, and executed 6 breaks. Her opponent did not hit any aces, made 2 service errors, and achieved 3 breaks.
This was the second encounter between the two players this year, with the Ukrainian winning for the first time.
Overall, Oliynikova has now claimed ten consecutive victories, having triumphed at a similar tournament in Tucumán, Argentina, two weeks earlier. This marks her third WTA 125 title of the current season.
Due to these successes, Oliynikova will rise into the top 100 of the updated WTA rankings on November 24, securing the 95th position, which effectively guarantees her a spot in the main draw of the Australian Open 2026.
It is noteworthy that in the first round of the tournament in Colina, Oliynikova easily defeated Elizabeth Mandlik (185, USA), and in the second round, she crushed Sada Nahimana (238, Burundi). In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian overcame seasoned Slovenian Polona Hercog (884), and in the semifinals, she triumphed over Czech player Laura Samson (265).
