After a long period during which access to the Dnipro was prohibited, the yacht club has finally been granted permission to organize competitions.
On October 18, the Kyiv City Cruiser Yacht Club hosted the final races of the 2.4mR class for the 2025 season. The event featured military personnel who have been undertaking a sailing sports course since the beginning of the year.
The 2.4mR class consists of specially designed sailboats that enable individuals with disabilities to compete on equal terms.
“These races were particularly significant — for the first time since the onset of the conflict, trainees were able to go out onto open water. Despite all challenges, the yacht club received the green light to hold the races, allowing participants to experience the true freedom of the river once again. The new conditions only added confidence and determination,” stated a representative from the yacht club.
Maxim Artemonenko emerged as the winner, with Artem Dudchenko taking second place and Olesya Kotlyarova securing third.
The practical portion of the course will continue until the end of October.
