Former heavyweight boxing champion Vladimir Klitschko is seeking the presidency of the World Boxing organization, known for overseeing amateur boxing and based in Renan, Switzerland.
Current president Boris van der Vorst from the Netherlands has declared that he will not run for a second term and will not participate in the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for late 2025.
Reports indicate that three candidates will contest for the World Boxing presidency: Gennady Golovkin, president of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, Ukrainian Olympic champion Vladimir Klitschko, and Haris Mariolis, president of the Greek Boxing Federation.
The final list of candidates will be published at least 30 days before the voting, which will take place in November during the organization's congress.
