Antonina Samoilova has achieved an extraordinary milestone, becoming the first Ukrainian woman to summit all five of the tallest peaks in the world, including the iconic Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain on Earth.

The expedition began on April 19.

Recently, the Ukrainian climber managed to scale the "killer of women" - Kanchenjunga, where she spent 20 minutes without oxygen at an elevation of 8400 meters.

She is now safely back at base camp, undergoing oxygen therapy.

On her Instagram, the climber shared a heartfelt photo holding a picture of Kyiv resident Oleksandr Hrynyk.

He tragically passed away on May 8, 2022, in Mariupol at the age of 18.

"He dreamed of reaching 'as high as possible...' but didn't make it. However, he is now soaring higher than all of us. Perhaps he is looking at his photo atop the world and smiling with his charming smile," wrote Antonina Samoilova.

Tonya also received a chevron from Sasha's parents to continue conquering mountains "together".

Illya Kenigshtein shared details of this expedition. Alongside the only Ukrainian on Everest was also Lithuanian Stanislavas Višniauskas.

"I know that each of them raised the flag of Ukraine at the summit. I am very proud of that. Currently, both are on their way down in the vicinity of Camp 2. The ascent is deemed complete when the climber not only reaches the summit but also descends safely from it," noted Kenigshtein.

During the ascent, Antonina ran out of oxygen. She completed her climb thanks to a cylinder provided by a Sherpa.

The Ukrainian endured 20 minutes without oxygen, battling frostbite and harsh conditions at an altitude of 8400 m.
