Young Ukrainian racer Alexander Bondarev, representing the Williams Academy and the Prema Racing team, had a successful outing in the second race of the Formula 4 stage in Misano.
The 16-year-old driver started in sixth place and actively contested for the fifth position but was unable to climb higher by the end of the race.
Ultimately, Bondarev finished sixth overall and was the best rookie in the race, earning him his first podium in Italian Formula 4 and valuable points in the standings.
Notably, for the first time this year, the Ukrainian anthem played in honor of Alexander's victory during the Italian Formula 4 event.
After a less-than-stellar first race where he finished outside of the points due to damage, the Ukrainian climbed to 11th in the overall standings and 5th among the rookies.
Bondarev's team, Prema Racing, currently leads the Constructors' Cup of Italian F-4 confidently, ahead of competitors by nearly 100 points – 123 points compared to 47 for German team US Racing.
As a reminder, the first stage of the Italian Formula 4 takes place at the International Autodrome Misano Marco Simoncelli, where the championship will also conclude with the Grand Prix from October 10 to 12. In total, the racers will face 7 stages and 23 races that will determine the best drivers, constructors, and rookies of the season.
