On April 10, the musical film "MUR. You [Romance] in Cinema" will premiere in Ukraine. More than 3,500 tickets for this film adaptation of the musical about prominent Ukrainian writers from the Executed Renaissance were sold within just 10 days before the premiere.
As reported by the project team to UP.Culture, this success in pre-sales was made possible by the active participation of cinemas that agreed to this initiative.
"This practice isn't new, but such strong early sales are certainly impressive, and we are thrilled that "MUR" has received such support," stated the distribution director at FILM.UA Nadiya Korotushka.
The team expressed gratitude to all cinemas that facilitated the pre-sale.
"We were aware that the musical had a significant following during its tours and wanted to give even more people the chance to see it, which is why we opened ticket sales well in advance," – shared the marketing director of the Multiplex cinema chain Irina Kholod.
The film transports viewers to the world of the Kharkiv house "Slovo", revealing the inner lives of its characters: from passionate love to struggles with fears and compromises. Events that took place over a century ago intertwine with modern realities and the ongoing war against Russia.
The musical "You [Romance]" debuted in 2024 and attracted around 60,000 viewers during its tour across Ukraine. Following this, the team decided to create a film adaptation in collaboration with FILM.UA.
The film showcases the stage performance with a focus on cinematographic elements: close-ups, angle changes, and detail focus. The editing adds new rhythms while preserving the authenticity of the live performance.
The musical team will also embark on a pre-premiere tour across Ukraine to meet with audiences. The tour will cover 8 cities: Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Lutsk, Kyiv, and Cherkasy.
