The documentary film by Ukrainian director Myroslav Chernov, "2000 Meters to Andriivka", has achieved a significant accolade at the CPH:DOX international festival held in Denmark.

It won in the F:ACT AWARD category, as noted on the festival's website.

"We award the F:ACT to the film "2000 Meters to Andriivka" not only for its relevance but for its artistic brilliance: a haunting, layered portrayal of war that rivals classics like "All Quiet on the Western Front".

This is not World War I; this is today. The absurdity of war is profoundly present. The artist, amidst the bloodshed, brings reality home and creates an anti-war film that compels us to reflect on the irreplaceability of every lost life", – the jury stated.

The film captures the events of September 2023, when the soldiers of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade fought to liberate the village of Andriivka near Bakhmut. The creators documented every step of the operation.

Chernov collaborated with the FRONTLINE team and Associated Press on this project for almost 1.5 years. The film's team included photographer Oleksandr Babenko, producers Michelle Mizner and Rainie Aronson-Rat.

The score for the film was composed by Grammy-winning artist Sam Slater, known for his work on "Chernobyl" and "Joker".

"This is a difficult time for Ukraine. It is a challenging time for Ukrainian filmmakers. However, now we are fighting for truth, for survival, for our stories not to be forgotten. This award is further proof that we are being heard and seen".

…We do not know what awaits us tomorrow, but we know that as long as our voices are heard, we will remain alive", – wrote Myroslav Chernov after receiving the award.

In total, the festival showcased 71 films across 6 categories. The main prize, DOX:AWARD, went to the film Always by Deming Chen, chronicling a farming family's life.

It is worth noting that at the end of January, the independent American film festival "Sundance" showcased clips from the film "2000 Meters to Andriivka".

In 2024, the documentary film by Myroslav Chernov, Yevhen Malolietka, and Vasylysa Stepanenko titled "20 Days in Mariupol" received multiple awards, including an Oscar, BAFTA, and the audience award at the Sundance festival.
