The Galway City Library has proudly inaugurated the «Ukrainian Book Shelf» — a significant initiative enhancing cultural ties between Ukraine and Ireland. This news was shared on Facebook by the Ukrainian Embassy in Ireland.
The event featured the presence of Ukraine's ambassador, Larysa Gerasymchuk. Officials emphasized that books have always represented freedom and identity for Ukrainians. Today, as Ukraine fights for its independence, culture serves as our voice in the world. For Irish readers, this shelf introduces them to Ukrainian literature and history, while for the Ukrainian community, it represents a piece of home.
Special thanks were given to Natalia Korniyenko, director of the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in Ireland, who was the driving force behind the event.
The embassy also expressed gratitude to the management of the Galway City Library, local authorities, and Ukrainian activists for their support and collaboration.
Earlier, the Ballybane Library in Galway also celebrated the opening of a Ukrainian book shelf, providing local readers with ongoing access to Ukrainian literature.
