Nine-year-old gymnast Alexandra Pascal from Chornomorsk, who lost a leg due to a Russian shelling, has received the state award «Future of Ukraine». This was reported on her Instagram.
The award was presented by the President of Ukraine and the First Lady.
«This is a great honor and a significant responsibility for me. Thank you for recognizing my efforts and for your trust. I promise to continue working with dedication, strength, and love for Ukraine,» the athlete wrote.
In May 2022, Alexandra was trapped under the rubble of a building hit by a Russian missile, resulting in the amputation of her leg. She spent two weeks in intensive care.
President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded students and pupils with the «Future of Ukraine» distinction, recognizing their personal bravery, courage, resilience, patriotism, active civic engagement, volunteer work, and defense of universal values and Ukraine's national interests.
