On October 15, the grand opening of Ukraine's national stand took place at the Frankfurt Book Fair, organized by the Ukrainian Book Institute with support from the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Goethe-Institut in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Institute, and Art Arsenal.

Tatyana Berezhnaya, the acting Minister of Culture, emphasized that Ukraine's participation in Frankfurt serves as a reminder of the importance of the Ukrainian voice in the world. She highlighted that despite challenges, the Ukrainian publishing sector demonstrates resilience and actively presents literature on the international stage.

International representatives at the opening included Wolfram Weimer, who assured continued collaboration with Ukraine.

He stressed that the war against Ukraine is an attack on European values, and support should come not just from military but also from cultural aspects.

Christian Ebert emphasized the destructive effects of aggression on Ukrainian libraries and publishing, asserting that literature cannot be silenced, and this stand symbolizes hope for authors and readers.

Peter Kraus von Kleff cited Victoria Amelina as an example, whose posthumously published book documents the events of war.

Representing Ukraine were Oleksii Makeiev and Olena Odynoka, who highlighted the significance of literature in reflecting Ukrainian culture.

This year's focus theme for the stand is “Filling in”. The stand features 300 books from 38 Ukrainian publishers.

The program will host over 30 events, made possible through the support of various organizations.

The Frankfurt Book Fair is one of the largest book forums in the world, attracting thousands of participants each year.
