Young creators from the National Library of Ukraine for Children presented a special embroidered shirt to the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk. This gift represents gratitude and support for Defenders' Day.
Inspired by the courageous special operations led by the Head of the SBU, particularly the «Web» operation, the children crafted this unique piece.
The original design of the shirt incorporates traditional Ukrainian symbols: the trident, the Cossack cross, and the image of Cossack Mamay, which serves as a spiritual guardian during these challenging times.
«This embroidered shirt will protect us during our crucial missions ahead. The energy put into this shirt will inspire and support us. Children are the future of our nation, and I hope that some of them will serve in the SBU in peaceful times», stated the Head of SBU.
Additionally, SBU employees organized an excursion for the children to the SBU Museum, where they learned about avoiding traps set by Russian intelligence aiming to recruit Ukrainian children for sabotage and terrorism.
The «Embroidered Shirt for a Hero» project was initiated by the National Library of Ukraine for Children, allowing library visitors to vote for prominent Ukrainians and handcraft a shirt for the winner. This year, the winner is the Head of SBU, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk.
The initiative began on July 15 in Pereiaslav, coinciding with the Day of Ukrainian Statehood, and the work on the shirt lasted for two and a half months.
