Kyiv's Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko shared a series of photos and discussed the awards given to educators ahead of Education Workers' Day, which will be celebrated in Ukraine on Sunday, October 5. At the city hall, he presented nearly 70 awards to the best professionals in the field, as well as those who are defending our country.
According to Klitschko, the educational community of Kyiv consists of about 65 thousand individuals, including both teaching and technical staff. They ensure the operation of over a thousand educational institutions in the capital.
In September of this year, nearly 365 thousand students, pupils, and trainees returned to Kyiv's educational establishments.
The Mayor noted that for the fourth consecutive year, educators continue to provide knowledge to children amidst war conditions, maintaining the educational front 24/7. They teach, clean, feed, ensure the facilities' operation, and care for the safety and lives of children.
“Almost 500 employees from educational institutions in Kyiv are currently defending Ukraine at the front. 34 educators have given their lives for Ukraine's independence, and 12 are considered missing,” Klitschko shared.
Additionally, nearly 2,300 employees from temporarily occupied territories have been employed in Kyiv's educational institutions, of which almost 1,500 are teachers. The city has always supported educators and will continue to do so. Despite the daily challenges of wartime, educators have managed to make learning flexible and diverse. Education in the capital not only functions but also thrives.
“Wishing you strength, the realization of your plans, and grateful students, dear educators!” the Mayor addressed the educators on behalf of the community.
