On August 8, 2025, a round table meeting was held at Vcentri HUB: Shevchenkivskyi, focusing on the theme “Unity for the Future: New Paths for the Veterans' Movement.” This event is a significant step in preparing for the 1st Kyiv Forum of Elderly People's Associations, scheduled for September. This was announced by the NGO “Dniprovskyi Veterans' Organization in Kyiv.”
Representatives from more than twenty veteran organizations across Ukraine participated in the event. Notable attendees included Viktor Shmakov, the head of the Veterans' Organization of Ukraine, Ivan Yatsenko, the head of the “Chernobyl Union of Ukraine,” Valentyn Svidelskyi, the head of the Kyiv City Veterans' Organization, Mykola Honcharenko, the head of the Afghan Veterans' Union, and Tetyana Vdovichenko, who heads the social guarantees department of the Kyiv City State Administration.
During the round table, participants discussed key documents prepared by the Forum's Organizing Committee, including the “Resolution of the 1st Kyiv Forum” and the “Appeal to Government Authorities.” These documents will be refined based on participants' suggestions and presented for approval at the Forum.
Additionally, a decision was made to develop a draft Memorandum of Cooperation between veteran organizations and other elderly citizens' associations, which will be discussed and, if possible, signed during the Forum.
The Kyiv City Organization of Veterans of Ukraine, supported by the Department of Social Policy of the Kyiv City Council, is the organizer of the 1st Kyiv Forum. The Forum aims to unite the efforts of veteran organizations to enhance their role in society and formulate policies that address the needs of the elderly population.
