The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has signed the Law "On Information Protection and Cybersecurity of State Information Resources" (No. 4336-IX). The main goal of this law is to establish a national response system to cyberattacks and threats.
This was reported on the official Telegram channel of the Verkhovna Rada.
A national system for responding to cyber incidents will be developed in Ukraine.
According to the parliament's announcement, the signed law includes:
- the creation of a national system for responding to cyber incidents;
- the implementation of a national information exchange system regarding cyber threats;
- the establishment of cybersecurity specialist positions in government agencies and on critical infrastructure sites.
The responsibility for the functioning of this national response system falls to the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.
The national system will include the government team CERT-UA and regional incident response teams created by local authorities.
Moreover, the law standardizes approaches to technical protection of information and introduces a new evaluation system for the state of cybersecurity in the country.
The Verkhovna Rada has approved legislation aimed at improving the cybersecurity of state resources in response to rising challenges in this field.
The law's adoption comes against the backdrop of an increase in cyberattacks targeting government bodies and businesses.
Recently, a technical failure occurred in the Ukrzaliznytsia system, causing online services to become unavailable.
