The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has announced that Ukrainians living abroad will be able to maintain their operator's tariffs without incurring extra charges for mobile communication and internet in 27 EU countries even after martial law is lifted.
According to the statement from the Ministry, the Parliament has approved draft law No. 12150, which is the final legislative step needed to initiate negotiations for the Roam like home (RLAH) policy.
This will allow Ukrainian and European operators to exchange services more easily and collaborate. The regulatory body, NCEC, will gain the necessary powers to oversee network access and resolve disputes between operators, bringing Ukraine a step closer to full integration into the EU's Single Digital Market.
After the law is signed by the President of Ukraine, the European Commission will assess the approved laws, and only then will negotiations begin for joining the single roaming zone of the EU.
It is worth noting that RLAH is a service that allows calls, SMS, and data included in Ukrainian operators' service packages to be used without additional fees. Meanwhile, EU residents will enjoy similar benefits when in Ukraine.
