The electricity supply situation in Ukraine may worsen, despite the rising temperatures.

This was stated by Yuriy Boyko, a member of the supervisory board of NEC "Ukrenergo," in an interview with the Business Capital.

Currently, the population is hardly experiencing outages, as restrictions mainly affect businesses and industries.

"In March and April, the situation could change. Our nuclear power plants will begin scheduled maintenance after winter. Taking a 1000 MW block offline is a significant loss for our energy system in its current state. I am not sure we can easily replace the absence of such a power unit, especially several of them. The water resources this year are significantly lower, a result of the mild and snowless winter," Boyko stated.

He believes that strict electricity conservation will be necessary to avoid outages.

Moreover, he suggests increasing electricity imports.

Reminder:

NEC "Ukrenergo" urges businesses to connect their installed backup generators to the overall energy system for their own needs.
