The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a new agreement with Japan for a grant amounting to approximately 58 million dollars.
This funding will be allocated for the restoration of infrastructure and other facilities damaged by the war, stated Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
“Today we are making an important decision for our recovery. We are approving an agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Japan to attract a grant of 8.8 billion Japanese yen or about 58 million dollars,” he said.
Shmyhal clarified that these funds are provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for financing recovery projects.
He expressed gratitude to the Japanese partners for their unwavering support of Ukraine.
Details of Japan's Support for Ukraine
On January 21, Ukraine and Japan established a platform for implementing recovery technologies for Ukrainian infrastructure.
On January 10, the Japanese government imposed additional sanctions against several individuals and legal entities due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
These sanctions affected foreign partners of the RF.
In October 2024, the Japanese government decided to provide Ukraine with over 3 billion dollars as part of G7 financial support.
Additionally, Japan's Minister of Defense Gen Nakatani announced at the NATO defense ministers' meeting the supply of additional vehicles to Ukraine's armed forces.
