Ukraine has officially marked a significant milestone by inaugurating an honorary consulate in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The honorary consul, Carl Algren, is a renowned American volunteer and advocate for Ukrainian interests. This was announced by Ukraine's ambassador to the USA, Olga Stefanishina, on Facebook.
During the official ceremony, the ambassador presented Carl Algren with the consular patent, and both parties signed an agreement outlining the consulate's functions and responsibilities.
Carl Algren is recognized for founding the organization Ukraine Action Plan and is well-known for his advocacy and humanitarian efforts supporting Ukraine in the United States.
Olga Stefanishina emphasized that the newly established office in Tulsa will go beyond merely providing consular assistance to Ukrainian citizens.
“The opening of the honorary consulate in Tulsa will not only enhance the consular services available to Ukrainians but also foster sister city relationships between Ukraine and Oklahoma, promote public diplomacy projects, and strengthen the Ukrainian community,” the ambassador pointed out.
In congratulating Carl Algren on his new role, Olga Stefanishina noted that there are currently 11 honorary consulates of Ukraine operating in the United States.
Additionally, Irina Podiryako, president of the Franco-Ukrainian Association of the Azure Coast AFUCA, has been appointed as the honorary consul of Ukraine in Nice.
