Ukrzaliznytsia is kicking off the holiday season with festive trains — during the weekends dedicated to St. Nicholas, charming retro trains will be running on steam power.

The “Magic Express” will operate on December 5, 6, and 7 in Kyiv and Lviv, creating a true winter wonderland for children.

This year, the main passengers will be children from frontline communities, as well as children of railway workers — particularly those injured, fallen, or currently serving in the Armed Forces.

Families from the regions of Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Chernihiv, Zaporizhia, and Dnipro can not only travel for free to Kyiv or Lviv as part of the “3000 km Across Ukraine” program but also receive free tickets for the “Holiday Express.”

To participate, follow these steps:

  • Activate the “3000 km Across Ukraine” program in the UZ app.
  • Purchase tickets using bonus kilometers for December 4–7 for yourself and children.
  • Register to participate in the journey via the provided link.
  • Wait for confirmation from Ukrzaliznytsia — the number of tickets is limited.

Train departure schedule:

  • December 5 — 14:00, 17:00
  • December 6 — 10:00, 13:00
  • December 7 — 10:00, 13:00

The journey will last about two hours and will take place within the city with one stop. Specially adapted child carriages are available for the youngest passengers.

Ukrzaliznytsia advises arriving at the station early — 30 minutes before departure, to take photos and join the festive animation program.

During an air raid alert, the trains will operate as scheduled, and the children's entertainment program will be moved to safe shelters.
