The national telecommunications operator Kyivstar, in collaboration with WINWIN AI Center of Excellence, is launching a competition to select a name for the Ukrainian large language model (LLM).

"The creation of the LLM is a national project that concerns millions of Ukrainians. Citizens will interact with the model through government services and AI tools for businesses. It will be available for use in science, education, and defense. Everyone can influence what the national AI will be named", — stated Danilo Tsivok, Chief AI Officer of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and CEO of WINWIN AI Center of Excellence.

Proposals for the name of the Ukrainian language model can be submitted in the comments under the post on Instagram until December 5. The top 10 options selected by the LLM development team will enter the final voting in the Diia app. This way, everyone interested can participate in choosing the name for the national model.

"The LLM will be the foundation for the future ecosystem of national AI solutions. It is fitting that as many Ukrainians as possible participate in choosing its name, as this LLM will become part of our digital identity, like the .ua domain or the Diia app", — noted Mykhailo Nestor, Director of Digital Product Development at Kyivstar.

According to the results of the voting in Diia, the authors of the best name options will receive prizes from Kyivstar:

  • 1–3 places — Samsung smartphone and a branded phone strap;
  • 4–5 places — JBL speaker and a one-year subscription to Kyivstar TV;
  • 6–10 places — branded phone strap and a three-month subscription to Kyivstar TV.

The first version of the model will be presented by the end of 2025. After the testing period, the LLM will be available as an open-source solution.
