On Tuesday, users of ChatGPT and the social network X faced access issues to their accounts due to technical problems at Cloudflare Inc., a web security company. According to Bloomberg, Cloudflare was investigating a situation that "affected numerous clients."
The company confirmed that there were difficulties with the support portal and that scheduled maintenance was planned in certain regions on Tuesday. Notably, even their website designed for monitoring service status was inaccessible.
About an hour after the incident began, Cloudflare announced that "services are beginning to recover," but warned that users might encounter "higher error rates" while troubleshooting issues.
Cloudflare's technologies are utilized by many businesses worldwide, providing protection for their websites from attacks that could threaten their traffic.
This is not the first instance of failures in the Cloudflare system. In July 2019, a software glitch caused thousands of sites to go down for 30 minutes, and in June 2022, another outage impacted traffic across 19 of the company’s data centers, leading to disruptions for several major resources.
