On November 3, Ukraine commemorates an important occasion - Engineering Troops Day.
This day was established by a decree from the President of Ukraine on October 27, 1999.
Engineering troops provide technical support to units across all branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
They belong to the special forces within the Armed Forces.
These troops are always at the forefront. In combat conditions, they initiate attacks, ensuring the advance of infantry and tank units. Military engineers create paths through enemy minefields, clear debris for the unhindered movement of their forces, and conduct demining operations on territories, buildings, airfields, and roads.
In peacetime, engineering troops focus on detecting and disposing of unexploded ordnance and the disposal of outdated munitions and equipment.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal congratulated military engineers on their professional holiday.
"Engineering troops are the shield that saves the lives of our defenders. They are the foundation of our defense and the driving force of our offense," he stated on Facebook.
The Minister added that military engineers set up positions, build fortifications, bridges, and crossings, clear minefields, and ensure the advancement of Ukrainian warriors.
Shmyhal thanked them for their courage, professionalism, and resilience in the most challenging conditions.
"We bow our heads in memory of the engineer soldiers who lost their lives fighting for Ukraine's freedom and independence," he added.
