Scammers are increasingly sending out fake emails, allegedly from the State Tax Service of Ukraine. This was reported by acting head Lesya Karnaukh on the official website of the tax authority.
“The emails concern a ‘financial audit’ related to a specific organization. I emphasize that the Tax Service has no connection to this mailing, so we urge everyone to be cautious,” Karnaukh highlighted.
These emails may contain harmful software. Opening the attached files activates malicious programs that allow unauthorized access to the user's computer. There is a real danger of virus infections.
Moreover, the emails are sent from addresses that are in no way associated with the Tax Service.
The agency advises not to open attachments in suspicious emails and to follow basic cybersecurity practices.
On May 28, 2025, the State Tax Service of Ukraine reported the mass distribution of fake emails allegedly sent in its name. The attachments contained harmful software that is activated upon opening a PDF file, providing remote access to the attackers.
