A groundbreaking program aimed at assisting internally displaced persons has been unveiled in the capital of Ukraine, named "Shelter. Work". Its primary goal is to aid individuals who have been forced to leave their homes in finding employment and housing, facilitating their integration into new communities. This was announced by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.
The "Shelter. Work" platform includes job vacancies that provide housing from employers, as well as retraining and reskilling programs. It also offers an AI-driven job search tool and fosters collaboration between the government and businesses.
"When a person has a place to live and a job, they become an integral part of the local community, paying taxes, raising children, and contributing to community development. "Shelter. Work" is a prime example of how to combine these two essential elements," said Minister of Social Policy Denys Uliutin.
Member of Parliament Halyna Yanchenko, who initiated the project, shared that the "Shelter" program began operating from the first day of the full-scale invasion, initially as a social media group that helped over 1 million Ukrainians find housing.
"Initially, this project served as a means for internally displaced persons to find free accommodation. However, it has now evolved beyond just finding a place to stay; it represents an opportunity for people to restart their lives," she emphasized.
