Repair teams have successfully completed the restoration of one of the power lines supplying the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. This was announced by Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk on social media.
"The energy sector has resumed electricity supply to the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP. This has allowed the station to exit from a total, tenth blackout that lasted for the past month. After the repair of the 750 kV 'Dniprovskaya' line, work continues on the 330 kV 'Ferroalloy' line," she noted.
Hrynchuk emphasized that the reason for the month-long blackout of the ZNPP was the actions of Russian occupying forces, who systematically shell and damage the power lines connecting the station to Ukraine's energy system.
"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian energy workers have restored the station's power lines 42 times. However, the only way to ensure long-term nuclear safety is through complete demilitarization, the de-occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, and its return under the full legal control of the Ukrainian operator – Energoatom," Hrynchuk stressed.
Repair work on the power lines supplying the ZNPP began on October 18. The station has been in blackout since September 23, when the last external power line was disconnected. Another line was disconnected in May, and the Russians did not provide safety guarantees for its repair.
