On the night of October 16, hundreds of thousands of users worldwide reported disruptions with the video hosting service YouTube. This was confirmed by the YouTube team.
The company acknowledged issues related to video playback on YouTube, as well as YouTube Music and YouTube TV.
Shortly after, they reported that the issues had been resolved, but did not clarify what caused the disruptions.
According to NetBlocks, an organization monitoring internet access, the incident was not related to internet outages or country-level filtering.
Data from Downdetector indicated that the highest number of complaints occurred at 2:36 AM on October 16, with over 330,000 users reporting issues with YouTube. Complaints came from Ukraine, the USA, the UK, Canada, Japan, Australia, and several other countries.
