The Ministry of Community Development and Territories of Ukraine, in collaboration with UNDP, has announced the launch of a new initiative in the renewable energy sector. This program, titled "Renewable Energy Solutions", aims to implement eco-friendly technologies within social infrastructure.
The total budget for the project is 16.5 million euros, which will be allocated for the installation of solar panels, heat pumps, and battery systems in institutions such as schools, hospitals, and kindergartens.
The cooperation document was signed in Kyiv by Alona Shkrum, the First Deputy Minister, and Christoforos Politis, the Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Ukraine.
"Energy independence is a crucial goal for the restoration of the country, and this partnership will help achieve these objectives at the community level," emphasized Shkrum.
She noted that the implementation of renewable energy sources, particularly in conflict-affected regions, will ensure the stability of service provision for the most vulnerable populations even during power outages.
A UNDP representative highlighted that the signed agreement promotes a "green transition", allowing for a quicker shift from plans to actions, rebuilding the country in a more environmentally friendly way while supporting education and healthcare.
