The world's richest person, Elon Musk, has announced that in two weeks the beta version of Grokipedia, a competitor to Wikipedia, will be launched. He shared this information on social media platform X.
"The early beta version 0.1 of Grokipedia will be released in 14 days," Musk stated late on Sunday, October 5.
According to NDTV, Grokipedia is being developed by xAI, one of Musk's companies, which also created the AI chatbot Grok.
Musk made the announcement by retweeting a post from user @amXFreeze, describing Grokipedia as "the largest and most accurate source of knowledge for humans and artificial intelligence, without usage restrictions."
"Grok uses extensive computations for logical reasoning, reviewing sources like Wikipedia, and asks itself: what of this is true, partially true, false, or missing?" reads the tweet from @amXFreeze.
Musk has frequently criticized the funding and editorial practices of Wikipedia.
His suggestion to use artificial intelligence for "navigation to the truth" has elicited mixed reactions on social media.
Some users have expressed support for the new Wikipedia competitor, while others warn that Grok's training data could lead to new biases.
It is worth noting that in July, Musk's xAI company introduced the new AI model Grok 4 and announced a new monthly subscription for AI priced at $300.
