The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine has refuted claims of a data leak from the Diia app: «the files circulating are forgeries and do not originate from the Diia systems, nor are they a result of any breach».

This was announced on the official Facebook page of the Ministry.

«Following reports of a potential leak, our team conducted an investigation and found that the files spread are forgeries and do not come from the Diia systems, nor are they the result of a breach or leak», noted Deputy Minister for Cybersecurity Vitaliy Balashov.

According to him, the published files are a mix of previously known leaks from commercial sources, which have been manually edited and supplemented with fake entries to appear as a «new» database.

«This is a typical practice in the black market: old leaks were «refreshed» with fake entries to pass them off as a new mass leak and mislead people. We view the dissemination of these forged files as a coordinated attack on Diia and an effort to undermine trust in state services», Balashov added.

The Ministry also emphasized that the Diia app does not store personal data - the system operates on the principle of data-in-transit: information is pulled from state registries at the moment of request and is not accumulated in the app or on the portal.

«In confirmation of this, the code of Diia was made public in March 2024. It is available for everyone to see that there are no hidden databases of citizens' data», the Deputy Minister stressed.

Previously, there were reports circulating that an archive containing personal information of over 20 million citizens of Ukraine was found in the public domain.

According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the information regarding a leak of personal data of Ukrainians during the testing of the e-Notary system is false - the data of Ukrainians is protected.
