A newly constructed canine center has opened in the Kyiv region, built by the National Police of Ukraine. The inauguration featured the participation of Prime Minister Julia Svyrydenko, Interior Minister Igor Klymenko, National Police Head Ivan Vihivskyi, and philanthropist Howard Buffett, who funded the project.

Attendees of the event were introduced to the center's infrastructure and the operations of the canine handlers. The center includes an administrative building, living quarters, modern kennels, a veterinary complex, and training grounds for service dogs.

“It is crucial that this center becomes part of the national infrastructure. Ukraine needs resources to restore life in cities and communities,” emphasized Julia Svyrydenko.

The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to the police officers for their service, highlighting the importance of their contributions to public safety. “Thank you for your dedication. I hope we will be provided with the necessary resources to accomplish our tasks,” she noted.

This center is unique due to its inclusivity, featuring an elevator and facilities designed for individuals with disabilities. Canine therapy for veterans undergoing rehabilitation will also be implemented soon.

The center also includes a state-of-the-art veterinary clinic and a unique Aqua-runner treadmill for dog rehabilitation. The previous canine center in Irpin was destroyed during the war.

The Interior Minister thanked Howard Buffett for his support: “This center is the best in Europe, and its creation was made possible by your initiative,” he stated.

Since the beginning of the war, the National Police's canine units have conducted around 60,000 deployments, aiding in the resolution of over 44,000 crimes. “Our dogs search for people and assist in demining,” the Minister added.

Howard Buffett also shared his thoughts: “I am proud of your work and the importance of your mission,” he remarked.

At the end of the event, a monument depicting a canine handler, their dog, and a child was unveiled, symbolizing the service for the safety of citizens. This sculpture was crafted in the USA.
