On the night of September 1, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the arrest of a suspect in the murder of MP Andriy Parubiy, the former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.

Zelensky shared this news on social media.

“Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko and the head of the Security Service Vasyl Maliuk just reported the arrest of the suspect in the murder of Andriy Parubiy,” Zelensky noted.

According to him, necessary investigative actions are ongoing.

“I instructed to present all available information to the public. Thank you to law enforcement for their prompt and coordinated work. All circumstances of this horrific murder must be clarified,” Zelensky added.

Update: Later, Zelensky stated that he had a conversation with Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.

“He (Kravchenko) reported on further procedural steps regarding the suspect in the murder of Andriy Parubiy. There are initial testimonies from the suspect. Urgent investigative actions are currently underway to establish all circumstances of this murder,” he noted.
