A new Alley of Heroes titled ‘Warriors of Light’ has been opened in Kyiv in honor of the defenders of Ukraine. Over 300 photographs of fallen soldiers are displayed on the stands.

The exhibition was initiated by Vera Lytvynenko, the mother of a fighter known as ‘Vector’ and head of the organization ‘Families of Fallen Defenders of Ukraine’. This marks the fourth consecutive year that over 300 portraits of warriors: fighters from the Azov Special Operations Brigade, the 3rd Assault Brigade, and volunteers who died in battle are showcased in Sofia Square. Many people came to lay flowers at the portraits.

“This is not just an exhibition. It’s a chance to remember everyone who gave their life for Ukraine. I hope that by October 1, every Kyiv resident will come to pay their respects,” said Myroslava Smirnova, Director of the Department of Public Communications.

She also called for dialogue between the authorities and the community, emphasizing the importance of communication in rebuilding the country. Each speech on the square brought strength and hope.

“Our military has been defending Ukraine for four years, and we must support them,” stressed a fighter from Azov.

Footage of the defense of Mariupol was shown on the screen, where fallen soldiers understood the risks but did not retreat.

Stanislav Ryzhenkov, the city council representative for veterans, addressed the attendees: “This is a place of memory for those we knew personally. Each name is a wound that does not heal, as behind each stands a life and dreams.”

For the first time, the event also presented the exhibition ‘Family of Heroes’ — artistic works created by the families of the fallen, available for purchase to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Vera Lytvynenko, who organizes this exhibition, stated: “In every portrait, there is a love for life and unfulfilled dreams. It is a great honor to touch their memory.”

Victoria Mukha, a city council member, reminded everyone of the importance of honoring the fallen: “Today’s exhibition reminds us of the price of independence and freedom.”

The ‘Warriors of Light’ exhibition will be open until October 1.
