In December, Ukraine will initiate the operation of the Register of areas contaminated or potentially contaminated with explosive objects, as stated by Ihor Klymenko in an interview with «Unified News».
The meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs took place in Cherkasy during the operations of the SES units. Ihor Klymenko emphasized that since the onset of the full-scale war, the SES units have cleared over 250,000 hectares of territory, removing and destroying 790,000 explosive objects.
The Minister also pointed out that specialists are currently making every effort to ensure that the Register of contaminated areas becomes operational, and by early 2026, it will be accessible to legal entities. After testing and implementation, access will also be granted to individuals who hold ownership or lease agreements for specific land plots.
While visiting the location where SES divers are trained, the Minister shared plans to increase the staff of this unit to 500 people. This is one component of the demining ecosystem:
«The demining ecosystem can be divided into several levels: the Office of Mine Action, the Humanitarian Demining Center, certification of specialists, and underwater demining. This system is already established and functioning», — said Ihor Klymenko.
