A tragic incident occurred in Kyiv on Velyka Vasylkivska Street when a woman was struck by a vehicle and later died in the hospital following the accident on July 19.

This was reported by Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the Office of the Attorney General.

According to him, the driver, Andriy Molochny, was under the influence of alcohol, drove onto the sidewalk, struck the woman, and attempted to flee the scene.

The victim succumbed to her injuries the following day.

Molochny has been charged with violating traffic regulations under the influence of alcohol resulting in a fatality.

The blood alcohol level was recorded at 1.77 promille, the Attorney General added.

Kravchenko stated: "We will insist on a 60-day detention without bail as a preventive measure."

"I am personally overseeing this case as the senior prosecutor and will support the charges in court."
